Within my work I am interested in developing further a contemporary painting practice within a shifting theoretical and cultural climate.

The use of hybrid forms and diverse elements in my work alludes to notions of difference, multiplicity and fragmentation. My paintings and installations attempt to break formal rules.

Colour is a very important within my work. I am interested in exploring the way we assign personal meaning to colour and how we subsequently respond to it psychologically.

Fragmentation is part of our contemporary post modern culture and pervades our everyday experiences from the cacophony of sounds to the visual sensations we experience. Walking through the city is sometimes like being in a large installation with all your senses charged. I am also interested in working in an installation context with my paintings to further explore the relationship between the viewer’s awareness and their engagement with the space and the object.
